Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about NOETA and the CHAS accreditation process.

About NOETA

What is NOETA and what does it actually do?
NOETA is a compliance facilitation service for UK construction businesses. We handle the entire CHAS accreditation process on your behalf — from analysing your health and safety evidence to preparing your documents, assembling your submission pack, and submitting it directly to CHAS through your portal. You answer our intake questions and upload what you have; we take it from there.
Is NOETA the same as CHAS? Does NOETA grant the accreditation?
No. NOETA is not CHAS and we are not an accreditation body. CHAS is an independent scheme that assesses and issues accreditations. We are a preparation and facilitation service — we get your application into the best possible shape and submit it on your behalf, but the accreditation decision is made entirely by CHAS.
How is NOETA different from going directly to CHAS?
Applying to CHAS directly means preparing all health and safety documents, knowing exactly what the scheme requires for the relevant trade and company type, and managing the submission and any follow-up queries independently. NOETA handles all of that — at a fraction of the cost of a traditional consultant, and backed by a refund guarantee.

The Process

How does the process work, start to finish?
After you purchase, you'll complete a short setup form with your company details, then a more detailed intake questionnaire covering your health and safety arrangements. You'll then upload your existing documents — or let us create compliant ones for you. Once everything is in, we run a gap analysis, prepare your full submission pack, and submit it to CHAS on your behalf. We handle any assessor queries and resubmissions too.
How long does it take?
Most applications are submitted within a few business days of you completing the intake and document upload. The speed depends largely on how quickly you get us your information — the intake questionnaire is designed to be straightforward. CHAS then takes their own time to assess, which is outside our control.
Does a company need to be registered with CHAS before getting started?
Yes. A CHAS account and registration fee must be paid directly to CHAS before submission. NOETA then securely captures the CHAS Veriforce portal credentials and handles the entire application process on the client's behalf. Register with CHAS, pay their registration fee — NOETA takes care of the rest.
What documents or information does NOETA need?
We'll ask for your company details, details of your trades and working practices, and any existing health and safety documents you have — policies, risk assessments, method statements, insurance certificates, and so on. If you don't have some of these, that's fine. Our platform identifies exactly what's missing and we create compliant versions for you as part of the service.
What happens if CHAS comes back with questions on an application?
NOETA handles it. Every application includes resubmission cycles at no extra cost. If CHAS returns comments or requests additional information, we address them and resubmit on the client's behalf.

Pricing & Refunds

How much does it cost?
CHAS Standard accreditation is £349. This is our consultancy fee — it covers the full end-to-end service including intake, document preparation, submission, and resubmissions. CHAS also charges their own registration and membership fees directly, which are separate and paid by you to CHAS.
What is the refund guarantee?
If we cannot get you accredited under the scheme you engaged us for, we refund our consultancy fee in full — the £349 paid to NOETA. The refund applies once we have submitted your application and CHAS has issued a final decision declining accreditation after all available resubmission cycles. See our Terms of Service for the full conditions.
What fees go to CHAS and what fees go to NOETA?
NOETA charges a consultancy fee for the facilitation service (£349 for CHAS Standard). CHAS charges a separate registration and membership fee, which you pay directly to them when you create your CHAS account. These are two separate payments to two separate organisations. NOETA's refund guarantee covers only our consultancy fee — CHAS fees are between you and CHAS.

Security & Data

Why does NOETA need CHAS portal login credentials?
To submit your application and manage any assessor queries on your behalf, we need to log into your CHAS Veriforce portal. Without access, we cannot complete the submission. You provide your credentials through our secure application portal, and they are used solely for your application — nothing else.
How is the CHAS portal password stored?
Your CHAS portal password is encrypted using AES-256-GCM before it is stored. The encryption key is held separately from the database. We never log, display, or transmit your password in plain text, and it is never used for any purpose outside your application. You can delete your stored credentials from the portal at any time.
Is company data safe with NOETA?
Yes. All data is stored in a UK/EU-compliant cloud database. Documents you upload are stored securely and are only accessible to you and our operations team for the purposes of your application. We are registered with the ICO (registration ZC165149). See our Privacy Policy for full details.
